Kostaq Cipo (1892–1952), linguist, philologist, education activist, Teacher of the People, passed away. He finished the College of Saint Adrian, in San Demetrio Corone, Calabria (1913–1917). He studied classical philology at the University of Rome (1917–1921). For his patriotic and anti-fascist attitude, he was imprisoned and kept in exile for about two years in Italy. After the war, he was twice elected deputy in the People’s Assembly. Then, as a member of the Institute of Sciences, he devoted himself entirely to linguistic studies. Together with Aleksandër Xhuvani and Eqrem Çabej, he participated in the drafting of the first guides for the spelling of the Albanian after the war (1948, 1951) and in the elaboration of some of the school’s main terminologies.
