The reburial of Naim Frashëri

King Zog I sent a commission to Istanbul to retrieve the remains of the national poet Naim Frashëri, taking upon himself all the expenses of the case. Since 1900, Naim’s body rested in the Merdinveqoi cemetery in Istanbul. The arrival of Naim’s remains and his reburial in Bektashi’s Teqe, on the outskirts of Tirana, was held with a grand ceremony, attended by the highest dignitaries of the state and the people of the capital.
