Ramiz Jakup Kelmendi

Ramiz Jakup Kelmendi, Albanian writer, translator, prose writer and publicist, passed away in Prishtina. He finished the agricultural secondary school in Prishtina and completed his higher studies in Albanian language and literature at the University of Belgrade (1955). He completed his post-graduate studies and doctorate at the University of Prishtina (1975). He worked as a teacher in Gjakova, then as editor in the newspaper “Rilindja” (“The Renaissance”) (1956–1968), director of the Regional People’s Theater (1968–1970), lecturer at the Higher Pedagogical School of Prishtina (1970–1989), founder and director of the non-public high school of journalism “Faik Konica” (1996-2004). He wrote stories, novels, dramas, feuilletons, essays, and journalism, but his main contribution was as a satirical story writer. Ramiz Kelmendi’s journalism stands out for its polemical spirit and sharp criticism. (In the photo: Ramiz Jakup Kelmendi)
