Massacre of February 4

Lexo ngjarje:

The Albanian people commemorate with deep pain the “Massacre of February 4” , a reprisal in the houses and families of Tirana by the German Nazi occupier and his collaborators, on the night of February 4, 1944. The bloody violence cost the people of Tirana about 84 dead, as well as the arrest of over 300 others. The purpose of the massacre was to frighten the people and force them to give up the started war, to ensure the peace and order required by the German regime of occupation. The organizer and leader of this massacre was one of the collaborators of the German occupier, Xhelal Staravecka, commander of the gendarmerie of Tirana. The massacre failed to stop the Albanian anti-fascist struggle and resistance. (In the photo: German car burned by partisans on “Zogu I” Boulevard.)
