The “Alfabetarja e gjuhës shqipe” (The primer of the Albanian language”) was published in Istanbul. The press run of this publication was two thousand copies. The book consists of 131 pages. In the first ten pages, is given the alphabet created by Sami Frashëri, as well as the way of forming Albanian syllables and words. It includes writings by Sami Frashëri, Jani Vreto, Pashko Vasa and Koto Hoxhi. “Alfabetarja e gjuhës shqipe” is a text that includes several subjects, such as: grammar, history, arithmetic, social and moral education. This work constitutes one of the cornerstones in the renewal and redefining process of Albanian linguistics. It deals with the most fundamental problems of the time, such as the political, ideological, cultural and educational ones, which the Albanian League of Prizren (1878) had laid out for solution.
