Gjergj Qiriazi, activist of the National Renaissance, publicist, brother of Gjerasim Qiriazi, was born in Manastir. Like his brother, Gjergj attended the Greek school in his hometown, Manastir, and Samokov’s American college. He was employed by the British and World Bible Society. After the death of his brother, in 1894, he took over the direction of the girls’ school in Korça, and in 1908, he was a delegate to the Congress of Manastir. In 1909, Gjergj Qiriazi was one of the founders of the Albanian-language newspaper “Bashkim’ i kombit”, constantly standing out for its political activity. Gjergj Qiriazi published a collection of religious poems with the title “Kënkë të shenjtëruara” (“Sanctified songs”), Sofia 1906. He was active, especially in publishing school textbooks. He published a text on physics, “Fizika” (“Physics”), Bucharest 1899, as well as several articles in the press of the time. (In the photo: Gjergj Qiriazi)
