Ali Muka, a scholar of folk architecture and professor, passed away. Born in Toshkëza, Përmet, in 1938, he completed his higher education and graduated as a civil engineer from the University of Tirana in 1966. Since 1969, he has been involved in the study of settlements and traditional Albanian dwellings in predecessor institutions of the Institute of Folk Culture, and from 1979, he worked at this institute. He published the monographs “Banesa fshatare dhe familja e madhe” (Rural Dwellings and the Extended Family) in Tirana in 2001, “Vendbanime dhe banesa popullore shqiptare” (Settlements and Traditional Albanian Dwellings) as a co-author in 2004, and “Ndërtimet tradicionale fshatare” (Traditional Rural Constructions) in Tirana in 2007, as well as a series of scholarly articles. He delivered lectures on folk architecture, provided assistance in establishing the Museum of Medieval Art in Korçë and the museum complex of the Albanian League of Prizren, in drafting projects for open-air village museums and the National Ethnographic Museum, among others.
