In Tirana, Moikom Zeqo, poet, publicist and essayist, political activist, passed away. He was born in Durrës, in 1949. He completed his higher studies in the branch of Albanian language and literature at the University of Tirana (1971). He first worked in the newspaper “Drita”, then at the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences as a researcher in the field of art. Minister of Culture (1991) and director of the National Historical Museum (1997–2005). He started his literary activity as a poet. In his volumes “Qyteti Feniks” (1970), “Open Book” (1986), “Meduza” (1994), he published lyrics that were strongly inclined to reflections expressed with a dense and somewhat abstract figuration. Dedicated to several fields of knowledge, Moikom Zeqo has written many articles on archaeology, museology, literature, and arts history. Following his tendency as an essayist, Moikom Zeqo has published the books “Keshtu foli Monaliza” (2000), “The Third Eye” (2001) etc. In 1992-1997, he was elected a deputy in the Parliament of Albania.
