Rajmonda Bulku, an actress, was born in Tirana. She graduated from the High Institute of Arts in 1985 and was soon appointed as an actress at the National Theatre. She played several roles on stage, including main ones, but gained recognition for her skills in cinematic interpretation. As early as her school years, she played the role of a peasant girl in her first film, “Dimri i Fundit” (“The Last Winter”) (1976), where she was awarded a medal at the II Albanian Film Festival. Her physical beauty and charm, sincerity and truthfulness, combined with a strong sense of drama, made Rajmonda Bulku one of the most popular actresses on screen, with 20 roles, many of which were leading ones. In just a few words, but with an expressive eye and inner calm, she portrayed the bride in “Nusja dhe shtetrrethimi” (“The Bride and Curfew”) (1978). The role of Jona in the film “Duaje emrin tënd” (“Love Your Name”) (1984), for which she won the fifth Festival Cup, marked a significant development in her career, featuring a clear psychological portrayal where the suffering of an undeserved love was experienced deeply and with painful honesty. In contrast, her role as Magda in the film “Vitet e pritjes” (“Years of Waiting”) (1990), for which she received the first prize at the IX Festival, revealed her dramatic abilities through a strong performance filled with inner spiritual impulses. Alternating between pain, hidden anxiety, and feelings of guilt and victimization, she took on the challenging role of Diana in the film “Të paftuarit” (“The Uninvited”) (1985), winning the Medallion at the VII Festival. In theater, Rajmonda Bulku played various roles but did not reach the heights of the characters she created on screen due to her natural attributes, such as a warm voice, beautiful portrait, meditative and melancholic eyes, and her ability to be as direct as possible in front of the camera. With her character in the comedy “Burri i gruas sime” (“My Wife’s Husband”), she broke from her established format of roles characterized by dramatic psychological depth, melodrama, and melancholy, entering a new interpretative space in the realm of comedy.
