Binard Bilota

In Frascineto, the province of Cosenza (Calabri), Binard Bilota, linguist, poet, folklorist and Arbëresh researcher, was born. Binard Bilota was the initiator of two Arbëresh language congresses in Corigliano Calabro (1895) and in Lungro (1897). He has left a rich literary and scholarly creativity. His most important works are: “Mërkuri i dorësit“, “E bukura e jetës” (“Beauty of life”), Fjalor fjalësh dhe e folmja e vendlindjes” (“Dictionary of words and the spoken language of the homeland”), Vjersha të përlipme” (1894), “Nder të mirëve dhe sharje të ligjve” (“Honoring the good and cursing the bad ”) (1898) etc. Binard Bilota left in manuscript the poem “Shpata e Skënderbeut në Dibër të poshtme” (“Skanderbeg’s sword in lower Dibër”), which was published in Tirana in 1967.
