Abaz Shehu, participant of the democratic-revolutionary movement, communist militant, participant of the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War, Hero of the People, was killed in Gjorm of Vlora. He was born in Bënçë, Tepelenë, in 1900. He actively participated in the June Revolution (1924). After the failure of the Revolution, he went to France, where he became a member of the Communist Party. He returned to Albania in 1928 and was imprisoned. He was released in 1937. After the fascist occupation, he joined the communist group of Shkodra. Member of the Albanian Communist Party since its foundation. In the years 1942-1943, he developed extensive activities for the spread of communist ideas and for raising the masses in the liberation war and worked for the creation of the first cell of the Party and the National Liberation Council in the district of Tepelena. He was appointed commander of the partisan group of Vlora (1943) and then commander of the 5th Assault Brigade, but he could not get the job, as he fell in an attempt in 1943.
