Bedri Shala

Bedri Shala, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army and martyr, was born in the village of Gjergjicë in Drenas (Kosovo). In 1992, he emigrated to Denmark and later to the Netherlands. In March 1998, he returned to Kosovo through Albania, arriving in Jabllanica, Dushkajë. For a time, he served under the command of the Dukagjin Operational Zone in Gllogjan, where he was responsible for training new recruits. He distinguished himself in the battles of Baballoq, Gramaçel, Prilep, Rastavicë, and others. In June, he moved to the Drenica Operational Zone in Likoc, focusing on organizing the fight and securing weapons. He participated in battles in Gllarevë, the Llapushnik Gorge, Çirez, Prekaz, Llaushë, Likoc, and more. In July, he led a group of over 600 volunteers from Drenica to Albania to secure weapons. On July 27, along with Bekim Berisha, he led over 400 fighters into the Junik area, where intense battles were underway. From that day, Bedri Shala and his fellow fighters engaged in continuous battles with Serbian military and police forces in the Reka e Keqe region. He fell in Drojtje, Junik, in 1998.
