Loro Kovaçi, an actor and People’s Artist, was born in Shkodër. From 1923 to 1926, he was a member of the “Bogdani” society, after which he established his own theater group, which operated until 1939. During this time, Kovaçi portrayed several historical figures, including Moisi Golemi, Skenderbeu, and Lekë Dukagjin. In 1947, he began performing at the People’s Theater, where he continued to work until the end of his life. Kovaçi became widely known for his role as Tuç Maku in the drama “Toka jonë” (“Our Land”) in 1954. He created high-level artistic figures with a national character on stage and also excelled in roles by world dramatists, such as the judge and the prefect in “Revizori” (“The Auditor”) by Nikolai Gogol in 1952, as well as Othello and Claudius in Shakespeare’s “Othello” (1953) and “Hamlet” (1960). Additionally, he appeared in several films, including “Bijtë e saj” (“Her Children”), “Debatiku” (“The Debater”), “Toka jonë” (“Our Earth”), and “Komisari i dritës” (“Commissioner of Light”), where he stood out in character roles.
