Father Filip Mazreku, Catholic clergyman, musician, was born in Thessaloniki. He completed primary school and high school in Shkodër, while his higher studies at the Faculty of Theology in Colleviti-Pescia, Italy (1934-1937). On September 7, 1928, he wore the robe of Saint Francis. On September 13, 1936, he was ordained a priest. During the years 1937-1946, he was a professor of music at the “Illyricum” high school, director of the choir and professor of the Italian language. After closing the lyceum, he was sent as a parish priest to Bushnesh in Puka, then to Iballe and finally to Bajze in Shkodra, where he was arrested in 1946. He spent 10 years in prison in Shkoder and Burrel. Between 1952-1955, he was the rector of the church of Saint Ndou in Tirana. From 1955 to 1961 he served as a parish priest in Laç, and from 1961 to 1967, as a parish priest in Troshan of Lezha. After the closing of the churches, he lived for some time with his father and then alone, farming. He passed away in Troshan, Lezha, in 1975. (In the photo: Filip Mazreku)
