Sten Dragoti, Albanian-American director and producer, was born in New York (USA), in an exiled family from Dragot of Tepelena. He completed his higher studies at “Cooper Union” University in New York, in the field of visual arts. In 1959, he started working as a cartoon director, then moved to the television advertising industry as an art director, where he made over 150 commercials. A good part of them have entered the permanent fund of the Museum of Modern Art of New York and have been honored with high awards, including the “Tony” award (the highest award of American television) given to the film series for New York, with the common title “I love New York”. In 1972, he started shooting feature films, such as: “The Dirty Little Bill” , “Love at First Bite” , 1979, “Mr. Mom” (1983), a satirical film about marital relations, “The Man with one red Shoe” , 1989, where the Albanian-American actor James Belushi also plays. Sten Dragoti in his films tends to family and social problems. In 1995 he visited Albania as a producer. He passed away in Los Angeles, California (USA), in 2018. (Photo: Sten Dragoti)
