In Tirana, Adil Çarçani, prime minister of Albania in the years 1982-1990, one of the senior leaders of the state and the Labor Party of Albania, participant of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, passed away. He was born in the village of Fushëbardhë (Gjirokastër), in 1922. He attended the high school of Gjirokastër. During the years 1942-1944, he participated in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. He was admitted to the Albanian Communist Party in 1942. He was appointed deputy political commissar of the battalion (1943), deputy political commissar of the VII Assault Brigade (1944) and political commissar of the IV Assault Division (1944). After the liberation, he held high positions in the bodies of the Labor Party of Albania and the state, he was a member of the Central Committee and candidate of the Political Bureau (1956), member of the Political Bureau (1961), Minister of Mines and Geology (1959–1965), Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers (1965–1982), Chairman of the Council of Ministers (1982–1990). Deputy in the People’s Assembly of the People’s Republic of Albania (1950–1992). In 1992, he was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment on the charge of abuse of office.
