Hiqmet Buzi, participant of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, Hero of the People, was killed in the “Tophana” neighborhood of Vlora, in the illegal base of the Albanian Communist Party. He was born in Vlora, in 1927. When the fascist occupation ocurred he was a student at the Elbasan Normal School (1909), where he became one of the most active young people in anti-fascist demonstrations and other actions against fascism. He was expelled from school for revolutionary activity (1942). He returned to Vlora and his house became the base of the Albanian Communist Party. He worked in the neighborhoods of the city and in the villages to mobilize the youth in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. He carried out the combat duties assigned to him by the Communist Youth organization. On the night of October 18, he found himself surrounded by fascist forces in the illegal base. Hiqmet Buzi decided to break through the siege and through heavy enemy fire attacked the fascists with revolvers and hand grenades, where he was killed.
