Drita Agolli, theater director, actress, acting teacher, Merited Artist , was born in Maqellare, Peshkopia. He continued for three years at the “Queen Mother” high school and in the last year went underground, participating in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. In 1950, she entered the People’s Theater as an actress. Her first role was that of Mariel in the drama “Voice of America” by B. Llavrenjev, in 1951. In the years 1954-1956, she attended higher studies at the Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, Romania, for theater scenography and costume design. She continued her undergraduate studies in directing at the State Institute of Theater Art (GITIS), Moscow, Soviet Union, until 1960, being the first female director to graduate. She worked for several years as an actress and director at the People’s Theatre. He gave the greatest help as a teacher of acting skills and head of the department of drama at the Higher Institute of Arts, training many outstanding stage and screen artists. The breath and breadth of representation of different social strata, the internal rhythm, the meticulous drawing of expressive details in living environments, the typical costume design, the gestures and the eyes in addition to the essay on the actors in the voli of the artistic figures, also the paradigmatic character of the detail turned into a find directorial, were critically acclaimed features directed by Drita Agolli . He has also contributed to the theoretical and critical thinking about Albanian theater with several articles, as well as with the book ” I paemri” (1997). In 2001, she was awarded the title of ” Grand Master of Work”. He passed away in 2017. (In the photo: Drita Agolli)
