Zef Jubani, a well-known activist and ideologist of the National Renaissance, passed away. He was born in Shkod\u00ebr, in 1818. He completed his secondary commercial studies in Malta. Zef Jubani is one of the first collectors and researchers of our ancient folklore. In 1871, he published the volumes \u201cP\u00ebrmbledhje k\u00ebng\u00ebsh popullore dhe rapsodi poemash shqiptare\u201d (“Compilation of folk songs and rhapsodies of Albanian poems”)<\/i>, which also include his studies: \u201cAktualiteti i popullit t\u00eb Shqip\u00ebris\u00eb s\u00eb Veriut\u201d (“The actuality of the people of Northern Albania”)<\/i> and \u201cKundrom\u00eb mbi gjendjen morale dhe mbi kultur\u00ebn intelektuale t\u00eb popullit shqiptar\u201d (“Reflections on the moral state and intellectual culture of the Albanian people”)<\/i>. Zef Jubani is known as one of the first Albanian economists who suggested the construction of roads and railways, the establishment of public enterprises, the development of foreign trade. He is known as the creator of an alphabet with Latin letters, drafter of an Albanian grammar, fighter for an Albanian literary language, for a national and secular school.
