He was born in the Kurvelesh region. He finished the &#8220;Zosimea&#8221; high school in Ioannina (1909). In 1909-1910 he was a teacher in Durr\u00ebs. He participated in the organization of the anti-Ottoman uprisings in South Albania in 1911-1912. He was imprisoned by the Ottoman authorities. After leaving prison, he taught the Albanian language at the American high school <i>Roberts College <\/i>in Istanbul. He returned to Albania with the Declaration of Independence and in 1914-1915, in the newspaper &#8220;Populli&#8221;, where he wrote a series of articles with a patriotic, democratic, and anti-feudal spirit. In 1916-1918 he worked in the field of education. In 1919-1920 he directed the newspaper <i>&#8220;Populli&#8221;<\/i> <i>(\u201cThe people\u201d)<\/i>, in which he defended the independence and territorial integrity of the Albanian state and the issue of national unification.
