He was one of the leaders of the uprising of 1848, in Calabria, and after a period of exile in the Ionian Islands (Greece) and in Rome (Italy), he became one of the thousand &#8220;red shirts&#8221; of Giuseppe Garibaldi, following him until in Marseille (France).
