He completed primary and secondary school in Greece. He started his higher law studies at the University of Athens but interrupted them and returned to his homeland. After a short stay in Albania, he emigrated to the USA, where in cooperation with Albanian compatriots they founded the &#8220;Mall i m\u00ebm\u00ebdheut&#8221; society, which was later included in the &#8220;Vatra&#8221; federation. In 1908, he returned to Albania and stayed in Vlora and Kor\u00e7a, where he continued his patriotic, educational, and cultural activities. After the Declaration of National Independence (1912), Thanas Floqi worked as a lawyer in the state administration in Vlora, as a translator at the International Border Commission in Shkod\u00ebr, and in March 1914, he was appointed chief secretary in the Ministry of Justice of Vilhelm Vid&#8217;s government.
