Ernest Koliqi, writer, translator, literature researcher, publicist and publisher, passed away. In the city of Shkodra, he finished the Saverian College of the Jesuits and then continued his education in Arice, Lombardy. He returned to his homeland in 1922, where he quickly integrated into the cultural and political life of the country, as an activist of the societies “Bashkimi” and “Atdheu”. During the years 1933-1937, he studied literature at the University of Padua. In the years of the Italian occupation, he was appointed Minister of Education. In 1943, he left Albania to take the chair of the Albanian language at “La Sapienza” University, Rome, where he remained until the end of his life. Ernest Koliqi is the author of many literary works, such as: “Kushtrimi i Sk\u00ebnderbeut” (1924), “The Shadow of the Mountains” (1929), “Flag Merchant” (1935), etc. He studied not only poetry, but also the genre of novel and drama. He was rightly called the founder of the Albanian novel. With the initiative of Ernest Koliqi, in 1941 and after, the foundations of Albanian education were laid in Kosova and Macedonia (North Macedonia), the school literature was supplemented with a series of anthological texts, as well as a series of volumes of the work \u201cVisaret e Kombit\u201d (The treasures of the Nation\u201d)<\/i>, in which an extraordinary folklore wealth from all parts of the country was gathered.
