He studied philosophy at the Pontifical Seminary of Shkodra and theology in Innsbruck, Austria, at the <i>Canisianum College <\/i>of the Jesuits. He was ordained a priest in Primiz, Austria, on August 3, 1919. From March 1920, he was the vicar of villages in the Shkodra district: Gimaj of Shala, Pog, Prekal, Kiri, Shiroka and, from 1947, of Rrenc of Gurit i Zi. He was arrested twice in 1945 in Shiroka and was released a few months later. He was finally arrested in Rrenc of Guri i Zi in September-October of 1947 and imprisoned in Shkod\u00ebr.
