Qemal Haxhihasani, collector and researcher of folklore, philologist and professor, passed away . He was born in Elbasan, where he completed the Normal School. He pursued correspondence higher studies for pedagogy at the University of Florence (1940 \u2013 <\/i>1942). In 1956, he completed the two-year Pedagogical Institute in Tirana and in 1958, he continued his studies in the branch of Albanian language and literature at the University of Tirana. His interest in folklore began during the years he served as a teacher in the villages of Dibra, Devolli and Tetova. From 1949 onwards, he worked as a folklorist at the Institute of Sciences, the Institute of Folklore, the Institute of Folk Culture. Since 1960, he headed the prose and popular poetry department in these institutes, until 1990, when he retired. He gave special help in the field of studying folklore, from the drafting of scientific criteria for collecting folklore, to general folklore, the history of Albanian folklore, the aesthetics of folklore, epics, lyrics, ballads, the relationship between Albanian and Balkan folklore and beyond etc. At the Institute of Sciences, Qemal Haxhihasani prepared the volumes “Legendary folk songs”<\/i> (1955) and “Historical folk songs”<\/i> (1956) and then the volumes “Historical folk songs (1878 – 1912)”<\/i> (1962). He wrote the study “Thimi Mitko (Life and activity)”<\/i> (1962). Qemal Haxhihasani has also provided assistance in the field of dialectology. He has drawn up a complete monograph on the speech of Chameria, and descriptive sketches for the speech of Polis, Sulova, Lura, as well as social speech. (In the photo: Qemal Haxhihasani)<\/i><\/p>\n
