The bloody violence cost the people of Tirana about 84 dead, as well as the arrest of over 300 others. The purpose of the massacre was to frighten the people and force them to give up the started war, to ensure the peace and order required by the German regime of occupation. The organizer and leader of this massacre was one of the collaborators of the German occupier, Xhelal Staravecka, commander of the gendarmerie of Tirana.
