Halim Begeja was born in an early citizen and intellectual family of Tirana. He started his secondary education at the high school in Tirana, but finished it at the one in Shkodra, in 1938. Halim dedicated his whole life to the major issue of remaking Albania. In 1942, he was forced to stop his studies, even though he was in his last year. Like many other Albanian students educated with the patriotic spirit, he also returns to his homeland. The opposition to the fascist occupation caused him to be exiled to Siena, Italy, where he continued his studies at the University of Siena, to complete the last year of the Faculty of Law. He expressed his participation in the political life of the country, as part of the ballist youth, in several forms, including as a member of his party’s delegations at the Conference of Peza and the Meeting of Mukje, Tapiza, etc. In the fight against the invaders, Halimi also took part in the fighting in the area around Tirana and Kruja. In June 1944, he voluntarily went to Kosova as the commander of the “Besnik \u00c7ano” battalion, to fight against the Slavic communists. At the end of the Second World War, on November 23, 1944, together with other nationalists, through Tivar, he left Albania for Italy and then for America. As a political emigrant, carrying out a great activity, he always remained a staunch anti-communist. Halim Begeja was a founding member of the “Free Albania” Committee and secretary of this Committee. With a patriotic spirit, he continued his activities wherever he was, in Europe and the USA.
