On September 21, 1967, the District Court of Gjirokastra declared him guilty of &#8220;the crime of treason against the homeland in the form of fleeing the country&#8221; and sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment, the loss of electoral rights for 5 years, and the confiscation of wealth.
