In San De<\/span>m<\/span>etrio Corone, in the province of Cosenza, Franco <\/span>Azzinari<\/span>, a world-fa<\/span>m<\/span>ous tree painter, was born. After the death of his parents, he left Calabria at the age of 14. Thus <\/span>begins the journey of its for<\/span>m<\/span>ation for a long ti<\/span>m<\/span>e and in different countries of Europe. For several years, he lived in Paris, where he was fascinated by the great i<\/span>m<\/span>pressionist painters, such as Gauguin, Van Gogh, and <\/span>M<\/span>onet, artists who had a <\/span>significant influence<\/span> on his for<\/span>m<\/span>ation. To <\/span>m<\/span>ake a living in France, he started taking portraits of tourists on the street. In 1973 he settled in <\/span>Lerici<\/span>, Liguria, where in 1974, he opened his first personal exhibition in the gallery “La <\/span>Cattedrale<\/span>.” In 1992, during a visit to Cuba, he rediscovered the characters, landscapes, <\/span>places<\/span> and colors of his native land. He has traveled a lot to Far Asia, Africa, Cuba and Brazil, the Seychelles islands, bringing characters as those of He<\/span>m<\/span>ingway or the Greek <\/span>m<\/span>ythology. Fascinated by Ernest He<\/span>m<\/span>ingway, he followed in the writer’s footsteps and painted the places and characters he loved so <\/span>m<\/span>uch, both in <\/span>Cuba and Kenya<\/span> and Tanzania. He went to Greece, where he was inspired by the Greek <\/span>m<\/span>ythology and created a series of works that reflect the characters and landscapes of the country.
