The painter <\/span>Vangjush<\/span> Mio was born in <\/span>Korça<\/span>, part of the Albanian realist artists of the first half of the 20th century. He was one of the most <\/span>import<\/span>ant<\/span> figures<\/span> of the Albanian visual arts, an outstanding landscape and portraitist, appreciated and known as the “poet” of the Albanian landscape. <\/span>Vangjush<\/span> Mio studied painting at the National School of Fine Arts in Bucharest, Romania (1915–1919) and in Rome, where he studied at the Royal Academy of Saint Luca. <\/span>Vangjush<\/span> Mio was the first impressionist painter in Albania. The artist’s house in <\/span>Korça<\/span> has been declared a “Museum House,” and the Cultural Center bears his name.
