In Kor\u00e7a, in the house where the patriot Diamant Terpo lived, the first Albanian school was opened; today, it is the “National Museum of Education.” The First School in the Albanian language, or as it was then called, \u201cM\u00ebsonj\u00ebtorja e Par\u00eb Shqipe,\u201d was opened with permission from the Ottoman Empire. The patriot from Kor\u00e7a, Diamant Terpo, donated this apartment for the Albanian school. The first Albanian school of Kor\u00e7a was not dependent on or financed by any foreign state or society. It was opened, financed and supported by the people and the Albanian diaspora communities. From the first day, 35 students enrolled in this school. Their number grew and in the second year, it reached 200. It was a secular and national primary school, where all lessons were taught in Albanian. Turkish was taught as a foreign language; French was later introduced. As textbooks were used those which were prepared by Naim Frash\u00ebri, Sami Frash\u00ebri, etc., and printed and sent free of charge from the Albanian colony of Bucharest. The opening of the Kor\u00e7a national school aroused enthusiasm among patriots inside and outside the country. The outstanding poet of the Renaissance, Naim Frash\u00ebri, while greeting the school opened in Kor\u00e7a, wrote full of inspiration: \u201cHapu, hapu err\u00ebsir\u00eb, \/ Pa jak\u00eb t\u00ebhu o drit\u00eb! \/ Se arriti koh\u2019 e mir\u00eb, \/ U gdhi nata u b\u00eb dit\u00eb\u2026 \/ Lumja ti, moj Kor\u00e7\u2019 o lule! \/ Qe i le pas shoqet e tua \/ Si trimi n\u00eb ball\u2019 u sule, \/ Ta pa\u00e7im p\u00ebr jet\u00eb hua!\u201d. <\/i>The opening of the Kor\u00e7a school became an incentive for the opening of other schools in different provinces of Albania.
