Sk\u00ebnder Rizaj, historian, Turkologist, and professor, was born in Peja. He received his first lessons in his hometown, finished high school in Prizren, higher studies in Skopje and Belgrade, postgraduate studies in Sarajevo. Sk\u00ebnder Rizaj worked for several years in general education and then as a lecturer at the University of Prishtina. He was an adviser to the General Directorate of State Archives of the Republic of Turkey. He has developed extensive scientific activity in the history of the Albanian people, theology, and Balkanology. Sk\u00ebnder Rizaj is the author of several monographs: \u201cZejtaria e Kosov\u00ebs dhe e viseve fqinje nga shekulli XV deri n\u00eb shekullin XVII\u201d (\u201cCraftsmanship of Kosova and neighboring countries from the XV to the XVII century\u201d)<\/i> (1972); \u201cKosova gjat\u00eb shekujve XV, XVI dhe XVII: administrimi, ekonomia, shoq\u00ebria dhe l\u00ebvizja popullore\u201d<\/i> (\u201cKosova during the XV, XVI, and XVII centuries: administration, economy, society, and the people\u2019s movement\u201d)<\/i> (1982); \u201cShqiptar\u00ebt dhe serb\u00ebt n\u00eb Kosov\u00eb\u201d (\u201cAlbanians and Serbs in Kosova\u201d)<\/i> (1991); \u201cKosova dhe shqiptar\u00ebt dje, sot dhe nes\u00ebr\u201d (“Kosova and Albanians yesterday, today, and tomorrow”)<\/i> (1992); \u201cKosova, shqiptar\u00ebt dhe turqit, dje, sot dhe nes\u00ebr\u201d<\/i> (“Kosova, Albanians and Turks, yesterday, today, and tomorrow”)<\/i> (Istanbul, 1993). He has published volumes of documents, such as: \u201cDokumente angleze mbi Lidhjen Shqiptare t\u00eb Prizrenit dhe fillimin e cop\u00ebtimit t\u00eb Ballkanit; 1877\u20131885\u201d (\u201cEnglish documents on the League of Prizren and the beginning of the Balkan disintegration; 1877\u20131885\u201d)<\/i>, (1978); \u201cBurimet turke (osmane) mbi luft\u00ebn e Shqiptar\u00ebve p\u00ebr pavar\u00ebsi dhe humbja e Ballkanit; 1908\u20131912\u201d (Turkish (Ottoman) sources on the Albanian struggle for independence and the loss of the Balkans; 1908\u20131912\u201d)<\/i> (1993). Sk\u00ebnder Rizaj has published many articles in various local and foreign magazines and has participated in historians’ conferences and congresses.
