Karl Gurakuqi was born in Shkod\u00ebr, lecturer, and head of education, author of educational texts, publicist, and head of pedagogical press. He completed his higher studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Graz (Austria). After returning to his homeland (1917), he served as a teacher in Shkod\u00ebr and participated in \u201cKomisia Letrare\u201d, as its secretary; was secretary of the democratic federation “Atdheu” (1921); worked as an education inspector in Vlora, Albanian and Latin teacher at the “Nana Mbretnesh\u00eb” Institute in Tirana; was an inspector and head of section in the Ministry of Education; member of the Institute of Albanian Studies. Karl Gurakuqi edited and directed the magazines “Atdheu” (1921), “Agimi” (1921-1922), “Revista pedagogjike” (1925-1927), “Mesuesi” (1928), “Illyria” (1935-1936) and \u201cShkolla Komb\u00ebtare\u201d (1938). His main publications belong to the field of education, such as: \u201cLib\u00ebr leximi p\u00ebr shkollat e mesme\u201d (\u201cReading book for secondary schools\u201d)<\/i> (co-author, 1920), \u201cGramatika Latine\u201d (\u201cLatin grammar\u201d)<\/i>(1938), “Gramatika shqipe\u201d (\u201cAlbanian grammar\u201d)<\/i> (1940), “Rreze drite” (\u201cRays of light\u201d)<\/i> (1941), etc. He translated several literary, scientific, and historical works from Italian, German, Serbo-Croatian, and Latin.
