He was born in the village Mal of Jushi, Shkod\u00ebr. He studied philosophy and theology in Rome and, in 1944, received his license in theology. He was ordained a priest on March 19, 1944. He was appointed deputy parish priest of Shkodra Cathedral and, during 1946, parish priest of Sheldija. He was called to perform military services and served two months in the army in P\u00ebrmet.
