He was born in Had\u00ebr Aga (today \u201cLefter Talo\u201d village) of Saranda. He embraced the communist ideas when he attended high school in Gjirokast\u00ebr. He worked as a teacher in the villages of Gjirokastra and opposed Ahmet Zogu&#8217;s regime. As an opponent of the fascist occupation of Albania, he was arrested and imprisoned (1942). Member of the Albanian Communist Party, in 1942. He participated in the organization of the illegal anti-fascist movement (1943).
