External member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosova. He was born in Prizren, where he completed the classical high school. He completed higher studies and graduated in history at the University of Zagreb (1965). Since 1966, lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prishtina for the subjects ancient history and Latin language. He has been working in Zagreb since 1993. He completed specializations in Italy (University of Rome) and in Germany (Heidelberg, Munich). In addition to teaching, Zef Mirdita developed scientific research activities in the ancient history of Albania, especially of the Dardanians.
