Bedri Pejani, a nationalist activist, politician, educator, and chairman of the Second League of Prizren, passed away at the hospital in Prizren. He was born in Peja in 1885. He received his education in his hometown and in Istanbul, where he studied history. After completing his education, he engaged in journalism. Later, he became a supporter of the ideas of Albanian nationalists for an independent Albania, which should be declared as such as soon as possible through revolutionary means, with Skopje as its capital. He advocated for the opening of Albanian schools in all Albanian-inhabited provinces. He participated in the Second Congress of Manastir (1910) for the unification of the national alphabet, as well as in the discussions in Skopje (1912) for organizing the defense of Albanian territories from the Balkan Alliance; he also took part in the Declaration of Independence of Albania on November 28, 1912, in Vlor\u00eb. After the establishment of Ismail Qemali’s government, he dealt with issues related to Albanian education and youth. For a time, he was a school director in Durr\u00ebs; during the years 1914\u20131918, he served in Kosovo for the opening of Albanian schools. He participated in the Congress of Lushnj\u00eb (1920). He published about 500 articles and studies in various newspapers and magazines. He drafted several petitions addressed to the League of Nations in Geneva (1923\u20131931). After the Fier Uprising (1935), he was arrested, and after his release in 1937, he settled in France. Upon returning from France, he collaborated with Ko\u00e7o Tashko to organize an anti-fascist uprising in the Dibra region. After the capitulation of Yugoslavia in 1941, he returned to Kosovo to organize the educational network and administration in the Albanian language. He participated in the founding congress of the Second League of Prizren. From January 17 to July 25, 1944, he served as the chairman of the Second League of Prizren. After the entry of partisan forces into Kosovo in November 1944, he settled in Shkod\u00ebr. He remained free there until the government of Albania surrendered to the Yugoslavs in 1945. Until February 1946, he remained imprisoned in Prizren, and in a trial, he was sentenced to death. He was poisoned by Yugoslav Intelligence Service agents in the hospital.
