Despite the Ajazi family being from the village of Preza in Tirana, Beqir was born in Dibra e Madhe, where his family was located that year. He attended the Kor\u00e7a High School. In October 1943, he began working as the third secretary at the Ministry of Popular Culture, editor at the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, and, since May 1944, also as an editor at &#8220;Bashkimi i Kombit&#8221; (The National Unity). He participated in the Congress of Legality held in Herr of Tirana in 1943. He was one of the first political prisoners in communist Albania. He was arrested on November 21, 1944. On May 29, 1945, the Military Court of Tirana sentenced him to death, as well as confiscation of property for &#8220;war crimes.&#8221; Later, the sentence was reduced to 15 years of imprisonment, which he served in various camps and prisons. He spent another ten years in internment. On May 10, 1946, the Executive Committee of the People&#8217;s Council Sub-prefecture of Shijak ordered the seizure of all his movable and immovable property.
