Anton Athanasi was born in Trebicka, Kor\u00e7a, and became a prominent Albanian-American activist in the patriotic and cultural movement of Albanians in the United States, being one of the key figures of the “Vatra” federation. He emigrated to Boston as a child and achieved success in his endeavors, becoming established in American society as a businessman. He was elected to leadership positions in various associations, including director of the National Restaurants Association, president of the Massachusetts Restaurants, and member of the American Culinary Institute, among others. He was honored with prestigious awards, including the “Golden Door Award,” given for outstanding contributions to Albanians in the United States. Anton Athanasi collaborated with figures like Fan S. Noli, Faik Konica, etc. For the moral and material support he provided to Albanian immigrants in the United States over the years, he was considered their spiritual leader. He was elected vice chairman of the Albanian-American National Committee and honorary consul of the Republic of Albania in the United States. He passed away in 2005.
