Kristo Floqi (1876\u20131949), a playwright, poet, and publicist, was born in Kor\u00e7\u00eb. He received his primary education in his hometown, while he completed his secondary and higher studies in Athens, where he graduated in law in 1899. After a brief stay in his homeland, he emigrated to America, where he participated in the patriotic movement, temporarily directing the newspaper “Dielli”. Upon the establishment of the Albanian state, he returned to his homeland, actively engaging in social and political life and collaborating with various writings in the contemporary press. In 1919, he directed the magazine “Agimi” in Shkodra. He held high positions in the monarchy’s state administration and the fascist administration after the Italian occupation (1939). Kristo Floqi mainly worked on drama, especially comedy. He published historical dramas such as “Fe e kombsi” (Religion and nationality) (1914), “Triumfi i liris\u00eb” (Triumph of freedom) (1938), as well as comedies like “E mbesa e krahinarit” (Niece of the Provincial) (1926), “Reklam\u00eb e bllof” (Advertisment and Bluff) (1926), etc. Kristo Floqi’s comedies draw from everyday life, poking fun at the thoughts and moral flaws of society and the administration of the time.
