Fadil Pa\u00e7rami, political activist, journalist and publicist, playwright, participant of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, was born in Shkod\u00ebr. He completed high school in his hometown. Then he was sent to Bologna to study medicine. In 1942, he interrupted his studies to join the partisan movement in Albania. After the war, he worked in the communist youth organization and was elected Deputy Minister of Education and Culture under Sejfulla Mal\u00ebshova, and editor-in-chief of the daily “Z\u00ebri i Populli” (1948-1957). In 1965-1966 he held the position of Minister of Culture and Arts, and from 1971 to 1973 that of the Speaker of the People’s Assembly. After the 11th Song Festival on Albanian Radio and Television (December 25, 1972), he was accused of liberalism. At the Fourth Plenum of the Central Committee (June 26\u201328, 1973), Enver Hoxha picketed him and Todi Lubonja in a campaign against foreign liberal influences on Albanian culture. He was arrested on October 21, 1975 and, after eighteen months in Tirana prison, in March 1977 he was found guilty of sabotage in the field of culture, because he had allowed foreign influences, thus corrupting the youth. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He served his sentence in the prison of Burrel and in that of Greater Kosovo, near Elbasan. It was released on March 17, 1991, two weeks before the first pluralist elections. He is the author of several plays, such as: “N\u00eb tufan” (In the storm) (1959), “Mbi g\u00ebrmadha” (Over the ruins) (1962), “Sht\u00ebpia n\u00eb bulevard” (The house on the boulevard) (1964), “E bardha dhe e zeza” (Black and White) (1968), “Rrug<\/i>\u00ebve t<\/i>\u00eb pashkelura” (On the trampled roads) (1968), “Ngjarje n<\/i>\u00eb fabrik<\/i>\u00eb” (Events on the factory) (1969), “Lagja e vjet<\/i>\u00ebr” (The old neighbourhood) <\/i>( 1969), “19 dit\u00eb” (19 days) (1969), “\u00c7\u00ebshtja e inxhinier Saimirit” (The case of engineer Saimiri) (1971), ” <\/i>Viti 61” (Year 61) (1971) etc. (In the photo: Fadil Pa\u00e7rami)<\/i><\/p>\n
