Aleksander Pe\u00e7i, composer, Merited Artist, was born in Tirana. He studied composition at the High Institute of Arts (1974). He worked as a composer at the State Stage (1977\u20131979), artistic director of the State Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances (1979\u20131986), freelance composer (1989\u20131991) and lecturer at the Academy of Arts (1991). He has composed in all forms and genres of music: songs, chamber, symphonic, stage and even electroacoustic music. He is the author of a significant number of pieces for cinematography, such as the music of the films: “Gjeneral gramafoni\u201d (General gramophone); “Dasma e Sakos\u201d (Sako’s Wedding) etc., some of which he has remodeled as piano creations. Aleksand\u00ebr Pe\u00e7i is one of the protagonists of the new musical developments in Albania after the 1990s. He co-founded the association “Muzika e Re Shqiptare” (New Albanian Music) (1993) and served as its first president. Within the activities of the association, he realized a significant body of work and other professional engagements in Albania and abroad, including participation in the International New Music Festival in Seoul and the production of a CD in the United States, among others.
