Drago Siliqi, poet and literary critic, passed away. He was born in Tirana, in 1930. At a young age, he was involved in the anti-fascist movement. In the years 1952-1957, he attended higher studies at the Institute of World Literature “Maxim Gorky”, in Moscow. He worked as a journalist in ” Z\u00ebrin e Popullit” and then director of the “Naim Frash\u00ebri” publishing house. He lost his life in an air accident. Drago Siliq’s poetry is realistic in nature, with sensitivity to the topic of social transformations in the post-war period. Drago Silic’s critical writings harmonize the objectivity of judgment with the tendency to notice and welcome the new literary phenomena of the time. In them, the works of many young creators have found appreciation and support, some of whom would be affirmed in the following years for the artistic innovations they brought to the literary process. As the director of the “Naim Frash\u00ebri” publishing house, he influenced the increase of literary publications and the translation of a number of classic works and masterpieces of world literature, activating and supporting a group of outstanding translators. Drago Siliq’s poetic creativity is summarized in the volumes “Kur zemra flet” (When the heart speaks) (1970) and ” Poezi t\u00eb zgjedhura p\u00ebr f\u00ebmij\u00eb” (Selected poems for children) (1976), while the critical writings in the volume “N\u00eb k\u00ebrkim t\u00eb s\u00eb res\u00eb” (In search of novelty) (1969), which saw several reprints.
