Muzafer Asqeriu, participant in the communist movement and in the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, Hero of the People, was killed in the war with the Italian forces. He was born in Gjirokast\u00ebr, in 1918. He also attended high school in his hometown. There he embraced communist ideas and developed propaganda for their spread and against the monarchist regime. For this he was expelled from school, arrested and later interned to Bilisht (1938). After returning from internment, he formed groups in Gjirokast\u00ebr with opponents of the regime and sympathizers of communism. He was arrested again in January 1939 and in the trial held against the communists in Tirana, on February 4-10, he was sentenced to 6 years in prison. After the fascist occupation, he returned to Gjirokast\u00ebr, where he continued his anti-fascist activity. With the founding of the Albanian Communist Party, he was accepted as a member and was elected a member of the District Committee for Gjirokastra. In 1942 he went into hiding.
