Completed primary and secondary education in Vuthaj and Guci. He attended the Normal School in Prishtina, while he completed his studies in Albanian language and literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Prishtina. In 1967, he started working as an assistant at the Albanian Institute of Prishtina, while in 1968-1969 he completed his postgraduate studies at the Philological Faculty of the University of Belgrade. 1969 he was elected a scientific associate at the Albanological Institute of Pristina. In 1971 he defended his doctoral thesis on the life and creativity of Asdren. In 1972-1981, he was the director of the Albanological Institute, then for several years head of the branch of Albanian language and literature at the Faculty of Philosophy, as well as editor-in-chief of the literary magazine &#8220;Jeta e re&#8221;. He published his first works in criticism and literary studies, to continue with studies on the history of Albanian literature, prose, drama, journalism, etc. His scientific work consists of monographic studies, such as: &#8220;Asdreni &#8211; his life and work&#8221; (1972), &#8220;Porosia e madhe&#8221; (1986), monographic study on Naim Frash\u00ebri, as well as numerous monographic studies on several important authors of Albanian literature. His field of interest is the period of the National Renaissance, the evaluation of the works of the most important authors of Albanian literature, the problems of periodization of literature, etc. In prose, he is known for the novel &#8220;Death comes to me from such eyes&#8221; (1974), in which he deals with the fate of Kosovo&#8217;s Albanian people and intellectuals, in the social and political circumstances of Kosovo and the former Yugoslavia. In dramaturgy, he published the book of plays &#8220;Mite te zveshura&#8221; (1978). He has made his contribution in the field of journalism with the works dedicated to the Albanian issue in general and the Kosovo issue, in particular, such as: &#8220;The Forbidden People&#8221; (1990), &#8220;Strategy of National Unity&#8221; (1992), &#8221; The Albanian issue &#8211; history and politics&#8221; (1994), &#8220;Bloody Peace&#8221; (1999) etc. In recent years, he has started publishing his diaries under the title &#8220;Witness in historical times&#8221;, from 1966 onwards. In 2010, the Albanological Institute of Pristina published a series of his works in 29 volumes. The works of Rexhep Qosje have been translated into different world languages. It is also involved in political activity. In 1998-2000, he led a political entity and was part of the Transitional Council of Kosovo during the first years of the UNMIK (United Nations Mission in Kosovo) government in Kosovo. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo since its foundation and an external member of the Academy of Sciences of Albania.
