Sulejman Lokaj, an actor and painter, passed away. He was born in L\u00ebbush\u00eb, De\u00e7an, in 1933. He attended primary school in Isniq and graduated from Art High School in Peja. In 1976, he completed his visual art studies at the Higher Pedagogical School in Prishtina. For a time, he worked as a visual art teacher in Isniq, De\u00e7an, and Istog. Sulejman Lokaj began his theater career as an amateur actor and director, staging several plays in which he often handled both the dramatization and scenography. In 1964, he was employed as an actor at the National Theater (Albanian Drama) in Skopje, where he performed numerous roles in various plays until 1976. Some of his notable performances include “Nita,” “Karnavalet e Kor\u00e7\u00ebs” (\u201cCarnivals of Kor\u00e7a\u201d), “Bu\u00e7itje malesh” (\u201cKiss of the Mountains\u201d), “Dielli i mbr\u00ebmjes dhe i m\u00ebngjesit” (\u201cEvening and Morning Sun\u201d), “Armiku i popullit” (\u201cEnemy of the People\u201d), and “Forest.” From 1976 onward, he worked as an actor in the People’s Theater of Gjakova, where he played various roles in productions such as “Fisheku n\u00eb paj\u00eb” (\u201cCartridge in the Dowry\u201d), “I paepuri” (\u201cThe Relentless\u201d), “Intrig\u00eb dhe dashuri” (\u201cIntrigue and Love\u201d), “Njeriu me top” (\u201cThe Man with Cannonball\u201d), “Ezopi” (“Aesop”), and “Epoka para gjyqit” (“The Era Before the Trial”), among others. Lokaj also featured in several feature films, including \u201cKur pranvera vonohet\u201d (“When Spring is Late”), \u201cNjeriu prej dheu\u201d (“The Man Made from Soil”), and \u201cRojet e mjegull\u00ebs\u201d (“Guardians of the Mist”). He appeared in various television films such as \u201cEra dhe lisi\u201d (“The Wind and the Oak”), \u201cKulla\u201d (“The Tower”), and “Migjeni,” as well as in several short films. As a painter, he held multiple solo exhibitions and was recognized with the National Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 by the Ministry of Culture of Kosovo.
