Besa Imami, a theater actress and Merited Artist, was born in Gjakova. In 1946, she joined the troupe of the People’s Theatre, where she completed a two-year qualification course for actors. Initially, she portrayed lyrical and romantic characters, such as Donika Kastrioti in the film “Sk\u00ebnderbeu” (1953); however, she later became known for her ability to perform roles primarily of a dramatic nature. Throughout her career, Besa Imami played over 80 roles, including notable characters such as Gjinevra in \u201cRr\u00ebnj\u00eb t\u00eb thella\u201d (“Deep Roots”) (James Gow and Duso, 1949), Gana Lihta in \u201cKomploti i t\u00eb d\u00ebnuarve\u201d (“Conspiracy of the Convicts”) (Nikollaj Virta, 1950), Oksana in “Fundosja e skuadr\u00ebs\u201d (\u201cTeam Sinking\u201d) (Kornei\u010duk, 1959), Ermira in “Mbi g\u00ebrmadha\u201d (\u201cOn Top of the Ruins\u201d) (Fadil Pa\u00e7rami, 1964), Gonerilla in \u201cMbreti Lir\u201d (“King Lear”) (Shakespeare, 1964), Lokja in “Cuca e maleve\u201d (\u201cGirl from the Mountains\u201d) (Loni Papa, 1967), and Laja in \u201cLulet e sheg\u00ebs\u201d (“Pomegranate Flowers”) (Kol\u00eb Jakova, 1974), among others.
