Risto Siliqi, a poet and publicist, as well as a patriot and democrat, was born in Shkod\u00ebr. Coming from a lower-class background, he became involved in the patriotic movement at a young age and was a member of the Committee for the Direction of the Armed Uprising of 1911. After the Declaration of Independence in 1913, he, along with Hil\u00eb Mosi, founded the newspaper \u201cShqypnia e Re\u201d (“New Albania”) in Shkod\u00ebr, which defended the interests of the national movement and highlighted the intentions of neighboring countries. Following the failure of the June Revolution in 1924, Siliqi withdrew from political life. He primarily developed his literary activity between 1905 and 1915, during which he published a series of journalistic writings and poetic works in the contemporary press. In 1912, he released the book \u201cPasqyra e dit\u00ebve t\u00eb p\u00ebrgjakshme\u201d (“The Reflection of the Bloody Days”), which chronicled the events of the Uprising of the Great Highlands. From these experiences, Siliqi drew inspiration for his poems, which celebrated the heroism of the people and honored well-known figures among the freedom fighters. In many of his works, he reflected the social aspirations of the popular classes and their anger at the betrayal by the feudal lords.
