Nermin (Falaschi) Vlora, writer, publicist and researcher, passed away in Rome, Italy. She was born in Tirana, in 1921, in a family with close ties to Ismail Qemal Vlora. Headed the Women’s Institute in Tirana (1943). At the end of the war she settled in Italy. She studied law at the University of Siena (1952–1957). As the wife of the Italian diplomat Renzo Falaschi, she had the opportunity to live in different countries of the world. Her interests span several fields: literature, history, archeology, linguistics and journalism. She wrote poems, essays, novels, descriptions and numerous scientific and journalistic articles; has published about 40 books, among them: “<\/span>Pellazgët-ilirët-etruskët-shqiptarët<\/span>” (<\/span>“The Pelasgians-Illyrians-Etruscans-Albanians”<\/span>)(1984); “<\/span>Lashtësia e gjuhës shqipe<\/span>” (“The antiquity of the Albanian langauge”) (1991); “<\/span>Shqiptarët, popull i ndarë<\/span>” (“Albanians, a divided people”) (1996). She was devoted especially to the research of the cultural and linguistic connections between the Etruscans and the ancestors of the Albanians, aiming to prove the antiquity of the Albanian ethnos. She maintained constant ties with Albania and Kosovo, helping to affirm the values of Albanian culture in the world, and to sensitize international opinion about the Albanian national issue. She was decorated with the order “Naim Frashëri” of Class I. According to her wish, she was buried in Kanina of Vlora. (In the photo: Nermin Falaski Vlora)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
