Ali Hadri, historian, professor, academic, passed away in Peja, Kosovo. He was born in Fier-Shegan, Lushnje, in 1928. He attended high school in Gjakov\u00eb, while he studied history at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade (1956). He defended his doctorate at the University of Pristina in 1970. He was a professor at the University of Pristina, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Pristina, editor-in-chief of the magazines “P\u00ebrparimi” (\u201cProgress\u201d), “Gjurmime albanologjike” (\u201cAlbanological tracings\u201d) (historical series) and the magazine “Kosova” (\u201cKosovo\u201d) of the Institute of History. He was the first director of the Institute of History of Kosovo among the founding members of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo (1975). He was a delegate in the Provincial Assembly, chairman of the League of Historians of Yugoslavia, member of many editorial offices and professional forums of historians of the former Yugoslavia. He is the author of several scientific monographs, special studies and textbooks on the history of the Albanian people, among which: “Pasqyr\u00eb e historis\u00eb nacionale shqiptare” (\u201cMirror of the Albanian national history\u201d) (co-author Milan Perkaj, 1960), “Krahina autonome e Kosov\u00ebs” (\u201cAutonomous region of Kosovo\u201d) (co-author Dushan Pejanovi\u0107, 1967 ), “Gjergj Kastrioti Sk\u00ebnderbeu dhe epoka e tij” (\u201cGjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg and his era\u201d) (1968), “L\u00ebvizja Nacional\u00e7lirimtare n\u00eb Kosov\u00eb 1941\u20131945” (“National Liberation Movement in Kosovo 1941\u20131945”) (1971), “Kritik\u00eb historiografike I” (“Historiographical Critique I”) (1973), “Gjakova n\u00eb L\u00ebvizjen Nacional\u00e7lirimtare\u201d (“Gjakova in the National Liberation Movement” () (1974), “Ali Kelmendi (1900 -1939)” (1984), and the posthumously published work “Marr\u00ebdh\u00ebniet shqiptaro-jugosllave” (“Albanian-Yugoslav Relations”) (2003). Most of these monographs were also published in the Serbo-Croatian language. Ali Hadri also wrote a series of articles on problems of the contemporary history of the Albanian people, the history of Kosovo between the two world wars, the history of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation Movement of Kosovo and Albania, and developed scientific controversies with Serbian and Yugoslav historians about the new history of the Albanian people, especially around the Anti-Fascist National Liberation Movement in Kosovo and Albania. After the demonstrations of 1981, he was dismissed from his position as the director of the Institute of History, was dismissed from his job at the University of Pristina, and was accused of being a nationalist by the authorities.
